Constrictor & Film Noir Publishers/Label
Hey Freakos… we created a new myspace page for my old Constrictor label/publishing company; you will find it on my Topfriends-list.
There’s some stuff to discover… and great music… soon Videos… bla bla… so if you are interested… cause… times they are changing… it’s 2008 and it seems more important to hold control of my work than to cash in advances from record companies that entirely consist of trainees and people who dream their existence is still essential… or struggle like sick helicopters within the economic jungle like members in ‘Lost’.
‘Film Noir’ will publish my next album and Constrictor will act as (kind of) executive producers. This will be in cooperation with a befriended distribution-company.

Renegade - The Lives And Tales Of Mark E. Smith
“Reams of stuff have been written about me in the past, but never in my own words: this is the proper one” Mark E. Smith. Still going after thirty years, The Fall are one of the most distinctive British bands, their music - odd, spare, cranky and circular - an acknowledged influence on The Smiths, The Happy Mondays, Nirvana and Franz Ferdinand. And Mark E. Smith is The Fall. For the first time we get to hear his full, candid take on the ups and downs of a band as notorious for its in-house fighting as for its great music; and on a life that has endured prison in America, drugs, bankruptcy, divorce and the often bleak results of a legendary thirst. Mark E. Smith, singer of the band ‘The Fall’, cynical society observer, one of the last honest, because absolutely incorruptible storyteller and artist. A kind “of biography” but much more …

Mister Jowe Head is an artist and a musician from the Midlands of England, now living in east London. Moving from his home town of Solihull, he started his Fine Art training in Manchester in 1976. At the same time he was beginning his musical career with various school-friends, a project that came to be known as Swell Maps. This group emerged in the late 1970s, and are now seen as legendary pioneers of what is now referred to as the “Alternative rock” scene; they set up their own record label and mixed punk rock with experimental psychedelic sounds.
Swell Maps released four singles and two albums in a brief but dramatic career that saw them topping the UK independent charts. When they broke up, Jowe joined Television Personalities who he met as label-mates at Rough Trade Records. Ten years with the TVPs saw Jowe touring with them around Europe regularly, and travelling to Japan and the USA.
At the same time, Jowe was constantly evolving his own visual aesthetic and personal imagery. As well as many solo and group exhibitions in the UK, he has helped to run a community art centre in east London and he also teaches in his neighbourhood. As well as painting murals and designing posters, LP and CD covers, Jowe makes collages, sculpture and clocks using recycled junk and he is also an accomplished print-maker.
Jowe continues to make music and has a new band called Angel Racing Food. He is also a solo performer and recording artist. He continues to develop his eccentric artistic vision and exhibits his art-work internationally. Jowe Head will be supported by the Incredible Shitty Listener plus the sensational Sister Chain & Brother John.

1 Comment » “pianoplayers” - what a sad, but beautiful novel! after having finished the book, i felt extremly melancholic. this book kept me thinking for a long time and, finally, this thoughtfulness made me even cry. and the anecdote at the end - crowned by this sheet of music - simply unique and perfect. how could burgess narrate in such a lively and touching manner?? thanks for the recommendation!
