After the critically acclaimed current album DIAMONDS FALL in cooperation with CAN-legend Jaki Liebezeit, the "musically mature diva" Phillip Boa and his Voodooclub will play a few exclusive Best Of Shows in autumn 2010:

To shorten the time until the release of the new studio album (summer 2011), the Voodooclub will play only in selected towns – after having played in cities like Hamburg, Cologne, Dresden and Berlin last year. Primarily, highlights and a good selection of classic singles and great songs from the repertoire and back catalogue of the eccentric-introverted but brilliant-extraordinary artist and songwriter Phillip Boa will be played.
The Voodooclub will also present a new live album (LIVE! EXILE ON STRAIT STREET) which will be released more or less as a Fan Edition, available via the official Phillip Boa shop, 15 July 2010. It will feature Jaki Liebezeit's drumming on 5 of the songs and is not reproduced, overdubbed etc. only authentic 1:1 recording mixed in Malta in the spring of 2010. Meanwhile Phillip started writing new material and decided to keep the year concert-free with the exception of the few shows in September and October.
For Phillip Boa, who lives in Dortmund, Malta and the Netherlands, specific genres have never been important. Individuality and a 'never sell out' indie ideology have always been his credo; he still refuses to appear on tv and rejects advertising and sponsoring. Again and again, he combined Punk Rock, New Wave and Pop with great skill and created intriguing arrangements with infectious melodies.
Today, DIAMONDS FALL continues what the Vodooclub had once started with several singles and Albums Of The Week in the British music magazines (New Musical Express, Melody Maker, Sounds) and afterwards developed further to quasi-perfection, by the work on the previous album FAKING TO BLEND IN: Great metaphoric, cinematic songs, covering different aspects within the structures of pop music and wrapped in a warm but spiky blanket of "beautiful noise". However, DIAMONDS FALL is completely different, somehow.
Once again.

Current album: DIAMONDS FALL
(Constrictor/Rough Trade Distribution)
"... an absolutely great and convincing album" (Spiegel)
"... post romantic power pop" (Welt)
"... a masterpiece" (MTV)
"... an excellent album" (Intro)
"... Boa never did sound more intelligent and reduced to the essence of songwriting" (Laut)
He gives the German avantgarde pop an identity and, together with his Voodooclub, has strongly influenced and mixes up the music scene for years. "Almost everything has been told in Western pop culture", says Phillip Boa. Nevertheless, with his current album DIAMONDS FALL, which is another piece in the changeful career of the poster child of German indie rock, the eccentric forty-something surprises with something untold again. Further development cannot be forced. An old stager like Phillip Boa knows this, too. It happens when it happens. Sometimes further development takes place in such an appealing and endearing manner like on DIAMONDS FALL – and the reasons therefore are manifold. It does not matter if one loves or hates him, the actually introverted, extraordinary artist. At least one thing everyone has to admit: DIAMONDS FALL reflects a Phillip Boa who underwent a radical change and who took such impressive steps on the way to become a reputable songwriter like never before.
